Frequently Asked Questions

Why Closed-Toed Shoes and Pants?

Closed-toed shoes: Whether riding in the saddle or working on the ground, there is always a high possibility that something may come in contact with our feet. Examples of this could be a dropped piece of equipment, a tree branch, or even a misplaced horse hoof! Better to be safe than sorry!

Long Pants: Long pants help to prevent chafing in the saddle, and to keep the skin from pinching. On the ground, they provide an extra layer of protection for the legs!

Is Wearing a Helmet Mandatory?

Wearing a helmet is mandatory for ALL STUDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18. If you are over the age of 18, you have the ability to decline wearing a helmet when you sign your waiver, although we always encourage you to wear a helmet.

Helmets are provided by Arbour Creek Riding Center and meet the current ASTM/SEI standards. All helmets are disinfected after each use. If you would like to bring a personal helmet, it MUST meet ASTM/SEI standards. Bike helmets and/or skateboard helmets are not acceptable.

What Does a Lesson Look Like?

All students, regardless of level, will be expected to groom and saddle their horse prior to riding or working their horse. This typically will take 15-20 minutes of the lesson once the student is proficient. The remaining time of the lesson will be spent riding or working the horse based on the type of lesson booked.

Where Do I Park?

Once you arrive at Arbour Creek, you will enter through the white gate. Our parking area is on the right directly after you drive in. Please do not drive down to the barn. Thank you!
